Speaker Bio
SHERI L. TARR is the Founder and Chief Advisor of '68 Partners, a global consulting firm that helps protect and grow life sciences companies, cannabis brands, and licensed operators with compliance best practices, sound regulatory strategy, and seamless product commercialization. A former pharmaceutical industry sales and marketing executive, products liability litigator, and regulatory compliance consultant, Sheri has extensive real-world experience operating in highly regulated environments. After she worked for Fortune 500 pharmaceutical and medical device companies, Sheri flipped the script and became an attorney who spent a distinguished career in the courtroom holding these companies accountable for deceptive marketing, defective manufacturing, and other regulatory violations. More inspired by medical innovation than litigation, Sheri founded '68 Partners to help life sciences companies and cannabis operators build sustainable businesses that have a transformative impact on consumers, patients, and the global economy.
Sheri has been in the regulatory trenches for decades. She has witnessed first-hand the good, the bad, and the totally avoidable. As a former pharmaceutical executive and mass tort litigator, Sheri has a deep understanding of the complex business, organizational, and regulatory challenges faced by life sciences executives and cannabis industry stakeholders. She intimately knows the tension between profit and risk, and has seen firsthand the adverse consequences to companies and consumers alike when these priorities are misaligned. Using her business savvy and legal-regulatory know-how, Sheri collaborates with clients to commercialize products, expand into new markets, minimize risk with compliance best practices, and generate growth with practical business strategies that strike a healthy balance between financial objectives and risk.
Over the course of her expansive healthcare, legal, and consulting career, Sheri’s work has covered the spectrum of life sciences, including medical devices; clinical laboratory testing and equipment; pharmaceuticals; cancer diagnostics and therapeutics; personalized medicine; biomarker technologies; SaaS technologies; and the full range of cannabis and hemp-derived products. Since 2018, Sheri Tarr has been deep in the cannabis industry, serving clients from early stage to established CBD, hemp, and cannabis brands; to prospective cannabis licensees; to retailers, cultivators, processors, and other licensed operators.
'68 Partners specializes in best compliance practices; Fractional Compliance support; seamless product commercialization; profitable business plans and brand strategies; FDA and promotional compliance (PLMA); full-service cannabis license application preparation and build out support; and advocacy before critical audiences. Sheri has argued matters before Courts in Illinois, Iowa, New Jersey, New York, and beyond. Her regulatory consulting and cannabis licensing experience spans the country including competitive states like New Jersey, Illinois, New York, Georgia, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and many more legal states. A frequent speaker and educator, Sheri’s thoughtful industry insights and guidance has been sought by legislators, regulators, law firms, and stakeholders around the world.
A University of Michigan alumni and Chicago-Kent College of Law, Illinois Institute of Technology graduate, Sheri is a Forbes 50 Over 50 Women nominee, a long-time veterans’ advocate, a member of the Boards of several life sciences companies and cannabis businesses, and a published photographer.
